- In the 11 years before deregulation, Texas electricity rates were so much lower than the national average that it was almost like giving Texans a discount of over 5 billion dollars!
- But in 2003, deregulated electricity rates jumped by almost 14% — more than four times the nationwide increase – and Texans gave back more than half a billion dollars.
- In 2004, they jumped over 6% — more than twice the nationwide increase — and Texans gave back almost another billion dollars.
- In 2005, Texans gave back nearly 2 billion more dollars.
- In 2006 they gave back over 3 billion dollars.
- In fact, since deregulation, Texas electric rate increases have outpaced nationwide increases by more than 50% and have cost Texans nearly 12 billion!
Isn’t it time that our elected officials in Austin fixed Texas deregulation?
